Education Quest and FAFSA

*Ever heard of Education Quest?  It is an organization that helps students and parents prepare for college - free of charge!  Their services include help filling out the FAFSA (financial aid) and scholarship searches!  Here’s the link to get to the website

**Seniors…beginning October 1, you and your parents can complete the 2022-23 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the application for state, federal, and college-based financial aid. Follow these tips to prepare:  Create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) for you and one for a parent at fsaid.ed.gov. You and a parent will each need an FSA ID to access and sign the FAFSA. Review the FAFSA Checklist at EducationQuest.org for items you’ll need to complete the FAFSA. See FAFSA Tools at EducationQuest.org for helpful resources. For free help with the FAFSA, call EducationQuest to make an appointment: Omaha – 888.357.6300, Lincoln – 800.303.3745, Kearney – 800.666.3721, and Scottsbluff – 800.303.3745, ext. 6654.

***Attend an EducationQuest Financial Aid Program to learn how the FAFSA and financial aid can help you pay for college. These are virtual events - they have Financial Aid Process, FAFSA information, senior or junior planning - all of those would be great ones to attend. You can see the calendar of events here and register for any and all you wish to attend.

--Students and families can continue to call the location nearest them to set up remote appointments for free help with college planning and the FAFSA.

EducationQuest Foundation will do a Financial Aid presentation and also facilitate Apply2College.  This will include all information you need about applying for financial aid and scholarships to help alleviate the cost of college.  This is a campaign that has helped to increase the college-going rate in Nebraska.  Some seniors don’t think they will be accepted into a college or that they can’t afford college.  This program will educate both parents and students that they CAN afford college.  Seniors will be required to attend that day – and it is VERY important that at least one parent attends if available.

Looking for an easy way to help families apply for financial aid? Share EducationQuest’s FAFSA Demo! This six-part video series will walk families through the entire application, and provides helpful hints along the way.
